FROM THE DESK OF THE DIRECTOR GENERAL'S

ACCMAN Institute of Management was founded with the mission of developing business leaders capable of successfully operating in today’s complex environment – leaders who are dedicated to serve their organisations as well as the society at large. We at ACCMAN, therefore seek to develop leadership as well as creative, analytical and teamwork skills that are critical to success

Indeed, it is time to reflect on the future of Management education in the global context. “There is a gap or imbalance between theory and practice in both management research and management teaching” (Thomas, 2010). Business schools may need a renewed focus and engagement with the needs of practitioners. Therefore, classroom teaching in our PGDM courses is conducted by a blend of academicians and corporate professionals. It is further supplemented by live projects given by industry..

The rapid pace of technology change in the last few years has further widened this gulf between theory and practice, having opened several exciting new opportunities.

In our global and highly interconnected world, the greatest power is the right information. Data Science, Big Data, and Business Analytics are now the primary tools for any organisation, society, and Government to seek competitive advantage inthe existing ecosystem.Careers in Business Analytics, Big Data and Data Science promise a lot of challenges, opportunities, and rewards.

To cope with this challenge, we at ACCMAN are introducing PGDM with major in Business Analytics for students with the requisite aptitude. For conducting this programme we are drawing faculty from industry as well as academia. We are also arranging 6-months industry internship tie-ups for PGDM in Business Analytics.

I look forward to welcoming you at this important juncture of your career.

Prof. Jayant Bose (PGDM, IIM-C)
